Real Weddings: Nadia Coppolino + Jimmy Bartel

Nadia and Jimmy Bartel are deeply entrenched in wedded bliss now, but the memories of their wedding day endure, with my story on their big day appearing in the Autumn/ Winter edition of Real Weddings magazine. Kristen Cook took the photographs and you can view a gorgeous collection on her blog. Flawless styling by The Style Co is shared in detail here.

My week – A Freelance Journalist

People often ask me what sort of work I do. Here’s what happened one week in April:

1. Distributed a media release promoting a regional event.

sipsblog

2. Wrote about the weddings of three AFL footballers and nine other gorgeous couples for a high profile magazine.

3. Told the story of a farmer with an amazing attraction on his property (besides sheep) for another national mag.

4. Proofed the final layouts of two previously written articles which are about to go to print for another national mag.

5. Wrote a 1000-word article for a Local Government publication on behalf of a local council.

6. Scripted a new documentary for the rock lobster industry using previously recorded interviews.

7. Lined up a series of homes and businesses to be photographed by an interstate magazine photographer and stylist visiting the region…

8. And was on standby to cover a court case for a newspaper. (Case fell through, but that’s ok.)

Always loving the variety.

Real Weddings Destination Weddings

I loved writing about the brides who headed abroad for the new Summer Edition of Real Weddings. One couple married in this French castle…

Another jetted away to gorgeous Koh Samui…

While this travel-themed wedding in NSW was rather perfect, too.

The cover? Pure delight.

Favourite Bride – Real Weddings Style

I have lots of articles in the new issue of Real Weddings magazine. It’s impossible to pick a favourite – what bride doesn’t look amazing! – but Monique Sola was a standout. Divine looking girl, exquisite headpiece and smoking eye make-up. Photography by The White Tree.

MoniqueDanielShe and husband Daniel make a stunning couple! They married at Barwon Heads in Victoria, adding a fresh touch of glamour to the coastal town.

One of many sweet love stories in the latest edition. And as always, so many ideas to inspire.

Best pick up lines – Real Weddings

Picture this: pretty girl walks into a hip nightclub, and the owner greets her at the top of the stairs with:

“I thought I knew every hot girl in Melbourne. Where are you from?”

I’ve been writing for Real Weddings magazine for several years now, and this would have to be the best pick up line yet. And it worked! The couple – Nick and Rozalia Russian – are now husband and wife.

The bride wore J’Aton, and this ultra glam romance is one of many gorgeous stories I’ve shared in the latest issue of Real Weddings out this week.

Real Weddings – Terry Biviano and Rebecca Twigley

And here we are in 2013! Let’s go….

I used the holiday break to catch up on a mountain of magazines, including the Real Weddings Summer Issue, which features a collection of articles I have recently written.

There’s some exquisite brides in there, including shoe designer Terry Biviano, who wore J’Aton Couture when she married rugby league player Anthony Minichiello.

“The designers poured their love, sweat and tears into every inch of the dress, and literally made the lace embroidery fabric. It was a true, one-of-a-kind, handmade couture gown,” Terry said.

J’Aton Couture also made the dress of another Real Weddings bride – Rebecca Twigley – who married AFL star Chris Judd. I was lucky enough to write about that wedding, too, and you’ll find it in my portfolio click here .

Best Wedding Proposal Ever – Real Weddings Magazine

I wrote about the most amazing proposal in the Real Weddings Style issue out this week: guy pops the question to his homesick, Chicago-based girlfriend after secretly flying to America and disguising himself as a reindeer handing out lollies at a Christmas market. An unsuspecting Rae had her photo taken with him before he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him. A journalist witnessed the commotion, and  ‘Rudolph’s Proposal’ became a media and YouTube sensation. Have a look here – gorgeous music, I bawled.

Of course, she said YES and their winter wedding was held at a favourite WA holiday spot. Here’s some images from photographer Leah Kua.

Hours were spent scouring second hand shops in search of decorations and vintage clothing for the wedding party – with fab results. The full story is in the new issue of Real Weddings. You can also read about it on Leah Kua’s blog.

Real Weddings Winter Edition

It was great to be involved in the 10th Anniversary Special Issue of Real Weddings. The weddings never cease to impress, and I’m always emailing the editor saying “this one’s my favourite”, “no, THIS one’s my favourite!”. Mikki and Gidon’s big day left a large impression – take a look at this amazing video clip produced by PurpleMonky, and let me know what you think…

I’m not surprised that Jessie and Russell made the front cover. She was such a stunning bride, and I loved writing about their relaxed summer nuptials…

Issue 21, Winter 2012

Jane and David’s wedding was also just divine. The bride’s exquisite gown was made from Italian cotton lace. It was all captured so beautifully by photographers At Dusk, and you’ll discover more great images on their blog – and in the Real Weddings mag, of course!

Jane and her friends made fabric bunting and other vintage touches during a “craftanoon” – love it!

Real Weddings

The new issue of Real Weddings is out and I had THE BEST time working on it. So difficult to pick a favourite bride – they’re all so stunning, and so is the photography. Rachel and Arthur’s Santorini wedding captured by photographer Kelly Tunney took my breath away…

The bride arrived by donkey…divine!

And love LOVED Rebecca’s Johanna Johnson gown captured by Blumenthal Photography.

My {now married} girlfriends had a flick during our beach holiday and agreed that you don’t need to be a bride-to-be to love this mag. The hair, dresses, decor and destinations are so inspiring. Work has begun on the next issue and it’s going to be equally fab!
